Ashlyn Gere (born Kimberly Ashlyn McKarny on September 14, 1959 in Cherry Point, North Carolina) moved to Las Vegas at age three. After graduating with a double major in theater and communications broadcasting from the University of Nevada, she initially pursued mainstream acting under the name Kim McKamy. She appeared in low-budget horror films like Dreamaniac (1986) and Lunch Meat (1987), but refused nude scenes in Creepozoids (1987) and Evil Laugh (1986). In 1990, she began her career in adult films, starring in around 100 movies over a decade. Concurrently, she worked as a mainstream actress using different names, appearing in Fatal Instinct (1992), Basic Instinct (1992) as Sharon Stone's body double, and Indecent Proposal (1993). She had recurring roles on TV shows like The X-Files, Silk Stalkings, Millennium, and Space Above and Beyond. Gere retired from acting in the early 2000s and lives in Texas with her husband, working as a real estate agent.
