Bernadette Peters, born February 28, 1948, is an American actress and singer with a career spanning five decades. She began performing on stage as a child and later transitioned to film and television roles in the 1970s, notably appearing in 'The Jerk' and 'Silent Movie'. Peters returned to Broadway in the 1980s, becoming one of its most prominent stars with roles in musicals such as 'Mack and Mabel', 'Sunday in the Park with George', and 'Into the Woods'. She has won two Tony Awards among seven nominations, and is known for her interpretations of Stephen Sondheim's works. Peters also released several solo albums and continues to act on stage, film, and television.
