Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, known professionally as Beyoncé, was born on September 4, 1981, in Houston, Texas. She rose to fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of Destiny's Child, one of the world's best-selling girl groups. After releasing her debut solo album 'Dangerously in Love' in 2003, Knowles began her acting career with roles in films like Carmen: A Hip Hopera (2001) and Dreamgirls (2006). She has since won numerous awards for her music and acting, including a record-tying five Grammy Awards for 'Dangerously in Love'. Beyoncé is one of the best-selling music artists of all time with over 35 million albums and singles sold in the U.S., and over 100 million worldwide. She was ranked as the most powerful and influential musician in the world by Forbes in 2010.
