Judy Gringer, daughter of a Jewish tailor from Bagsværd, began her career as a ballet student at the Royal Theatre but was later dismissed and toured Italy with Rita Clair Ballet. She performed in Tivoli revues and various films before joining ABC-Teatret in 1957, where she became known for her role in 'Babs og Nutte' alongside Dirch Passer. After freelancing as an actress across Copenhagen theaters, Gringer spent three years living as a hippie in New York, working odd jobs and appearing on revues like Holstebro-Revyen. She had relationships with actor Dirch Passer and film director Knud Leif Thomsen, with whom she has a daughter Julie Gringer. Her marriage to psychologist Bent Tage Truelsen was short-lived. Gringer appeared in numerous films such as 'Pigen og pressefotografen', 'Gift', and 'Julefrokosten'.
