Marina Sirtis, born on March 29, 1955 in London's East End to Greek parents Despina and John Sirtis, is an English-American actress known for her role as Counselor Deanna Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation. She trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama despite parental disapproval. Sirtis emigrated to the U.S. in 1986, becoming a citizen later. Her career began at the Connaught Theatre in Worthing, appearing in productions like 'What the Butler Saw' and 'Hamlet'. Before her Star Trek role, she had supporting roles in films like 'The Wicked Lady' (1983) with Faye Dunaway, and made numerous TV appearances in series such as Raffles, Hazell, Minder, and The Return of Sherlock Holmes. She is married to rock guitarist Michael Lamper since 1992.
