Matija Prskalo, born Tomo in Osijek, Yugoslavia in 1968, was a promising young rower expected to compete at a junior rowing cup opened by Chairman Tito. However, his main interest lay not in sports but with girls. Due to a physical handicap he hid even from doctors, he ended up in hospital. Political pressure mounted on him to participate in the competition despite his condition, exacerbated when his father was arrested for political reasons. The 'Queen of the Night', a beautiful prostitute, became significant in Tomo's life as she introduced him to manhood.
