Nia Long (born October 30, 1970) is an American actress known for her roles in 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air', 'Third Watch', and films like 'Soul Food', 'Love Jones', 'Big Momma's House', and 'Are We There Yet?'. Born to Afro-Trinidadian parents in Brooklyn, New York, she moved with her mother to Iowa City when she was two. They later settled in South Los Angeles. Long is the half-sister of comedian Sommore. She studied acting at St. Mary's Academy and graduated from Westchester High School. Her career began with roles on 'Guiding Light' and 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air'. She has since appeared in various films and TV shows, including 'Third Watch', 'Big Shots', and 'Boston Legal'. Long has a son, Massai Zhivago Dorsey II (born 2000), with her former partner Massai Z. Dorsey.
