Teri Ann Garr (1944-2024) was an American actress known for her comedic roles across four decades. Born in Lakewood, Ohio, she trained in ballet and started acting as a teenager with appearances in Elvis Presley films and TV shows like 'Star Trek'. After studying at the Lee Strasberg Institute, Garr's career took off with roles in notable films like 'Young Frankenstein' (1974), 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' (1977), 'Tootsie' (1982)', and Coppola's 'One from the Heart'. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 'Tootsie'. Garr also appeared in films by Altman, Scorsese, and had a recurring role on 'Friends'. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2002, her health declined until her death in 2024.
