Tevaite Vernette, a Tahitian actress, gained fame for her role as Mauatua, Mel Gibson's love interest in 'The Bounty' (1984). This was her sole acting role in a motion picture. She resides in Tahiti, is married with two children, and remains one of the few Tahitian celebrities, making public appearances and serving as a spokesperson for the island upon request.
