Felix, an owlish writer who lives in an apartment building, is bothered by his neighbor Doris' late-night activities with her male visitors. He reports this to their landlord, leading to Doris being evicted. Doris retaliates by moving into Felix's apartment at 3 AM one night, causing a heated argument between them. This leads to both of them getting thrown out by the landlord. They then move in with Barney, but their constant bickering drives him out too. Throughout these events, Felix and Doris repeatedly clash due to their opposite personalities, but they gradually begin to understand each other.
The Owl and the Pussycat is a 1970 comedy-romance film directed by Herbert Ross, starring Barbra Streisand as Doris, a fiery woman who occasionally engages in prostitution, and Dustin Hoffman as Felix, an owlish writer whose publishing efforts have been unsuccessful. The film explores the unlikely friendship and romantic relationship between these two opposites through their shared experiences of being evicted from three different apartments. The story is set in Manhattan and revolves around themes of understanding, tolerance, and finding common ground despite stark differences.
