Storia
Nina, a French teacher in her mid-30s, struggles with infertility while married to Wojtek, a mechanic who seems out of place in their upper-middle-class lifestyle. In an effort to conceive, they consider finding a surrogate mother. Nina inadvertently meets Magda, an airport security guard and Ada's girlfriend, after backing into Magda's car near Wojtek's shop. Wojtek suggests seducing Magda into being their surrogate. However, Nina finds herself increasingly attracted to Magda's natural beauty and inner strength, sparking an unexpected love affair between the two women. This secret relationship gradually moves from behind closed doors to public places as Nina explores her newfound queer awakening.
Riassunto
Nina, a debut feature by Polish filmmaker Olga Chajdas, is a complex exploration of desire, self-discovery, and the unpredictable consequences of human connection. The film follows Nina, a high school French teacher navigating infertility and societal expectations within her marriage to Wojtek. When they consider surrogacy as a solution, Nina's chance encounter with Magda leads to an unlikely romance that challenges Nina's heteronormative life. Chajdas handles the erotic charge between Nina and Magda with grace and allure, crafting a beguiling portrait of queer awakening set against the backdrop of contemporary Poland.
