Trama
After serving two years in prison for accepting a bribe—a charge he maintains was false—former newspaper reporter Harry Barber is released, harboring bitterness and a desire for revenge. He takes on a job arranged by Mrs. Malroux to stage the kidnapping of her stepdaughter, the daughter of a dying millionaire. The plan is for Barber to demand ransom money from the girl's father while Mrs. Malroux keeps him in the dark about her true intentions.
