Pendelton "Penny" Wise, a smooth-talking con-artist, makes a living by scamming people with fake travel packages over the phone. When he's hired by shady veteran businessman Kelly Grant to sell property for a gold mine over the phone, Penny sees an opportunity for more fast cash.
