Anke Engelke, born on December 21, 1965, in Montreal, Canada, is one of Germany’s most versatile and influential entertainers, renowned as a comedian, actress, and voice artist. She rose to national stardom in the late 1990s as a lead cast member of the sketch show Die Wochenshow and further solidified her status with her multi-award-winning sketch comedy series Ladykracher. Beyond comedy, she has demonstrated her range in dramatic roles, such as in the Netflix series The Last Word, and has become a fixture in German cinema.
In addition to her on-screen presence, Engelke is one of Germany’s most prominent voice actresses, most notably serving as the German voice of Marge Simpson in The Simpsons since 2007 and Dory in the Finding Nemo franchise. In recent years, she has reached new audiences through the hit Amazon Prime series LOL: Last One Laughing and her 2024 collaboration with longtime partner Bastian Pastewka in the series Perfekt Verpasst. A polyglot fluent in German, English, and French, Engelke is also widely respected for her philanthropic work as an ambassador for the medical aid organization action medeor.
