Astrid Grarup Elbo, a renowned Danish ballerina, returned to the Royal Danish Ballet in Copenhagen after an absence to perform 'Giselle', with her husband Frans serving as choreographer. However, during rehearsals, Astrid suffered from an irreparable hip injury, ending her dance career abruptly. Instead of accepting defeat, she chose to train Polly, a young ballerina, to take over the role of Giselle, despite it causing emotional turmoil due to the attention shifted towards Polly and Frans.
