Vanessa Kai, born and raised in New York City as a first-generation Chinese American, has made significant strides in her acting career, particularly known for her role as Pei-Ling Zhang in CW's 'Kung Fu' (2021-present), where she portrays a wise mentor figure. Prior to this, she had notable roles in series like 'New Amsterdam', 'Orange Is the New Black', and films such as 'Death in Love' (2008). Kai has also been recognized for her theater work, earning a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for her role in 'KPOP'.
